Si le passé pouvait parler (If the Past Could Talk) is the name of a documentary series produced by CCTV. Each episode summarizes the story of an ancient Chinese work in five minutes.
On December 9, 2019, CGTN (China Global Television Network), an important international branch of CCTV, presented, in the presence of director Xu Huan and the creative team, the third season of the series at the Carrousel du Louvre, a prestigious venue in the heart of Paris.
By choosing Paris to launch its first and only campaign to promote China Media Group’s programs in Europe, CGTN is setting its strategy in modernity, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations.
CGTN brought together nearly forty influential personalities from the world of art, television and Franco-Chinese relations. Shaye LU, Chinese Ambassador to France and Jean-François Copé, former Secretary of State were present. An exhibition followed by a forum on the theme of Chinese culture, from past to present, were on the programme of this day rich in exchanges.
After the exhibition, a forum was held with ambassadors of French culture, including Alberto Vial, head of international policy at the Louvre, Catherine Cheviot, director of the Rodin Museum, Bernard de Montferrand, President of the Fonds régional d’art contemporain, and Eric Lefebvre, director of the Cernuschi Museum. The world of cinema was also widely represented, notably with director Luc Jacquet, producers Marius Wang and Jean De Trégomain, as well as many film music composers.
This day organized in collaboration with French CGTN was the opportunity to show the French people the richness of the cultural programs of the CCTV group but also the historical culture of China.
China has a growing international influence, and this also comes through culture.
